100th Post

This is a milestone post...the 100th post in this blog which in a couple of months will be celebrating it's first year. I'd really like to thank all of you my readers for your support, comments and feedback, and interest in this blog and its topic, since it's you that make it all possible.


Today we can see an image of James Dean dressed all in black wearing a white belt resting under a tree and possibly thinking on the future while contemplating the garden that was upon him. A perfect image, except for the fact he's wearing white socks with black! but oh well he's James Dean so it can be forgiven.

Blondie

Blondie along with The Ramones was initially an underground rock act in New York City before achieving massive success and notoriety around 1977. Precursors of a new rock genre, New Wave, Blondie was a very versatile group which offered sounds reminiscent of rock, reggae, disco, and punk. It's male members were famous, but not as famous as its lead singer, Debbie Harry. In fact some people thought Blondie consisted of only Debbie Harry. Shown below the group in the streets of New York back in 1977 wearing outfits that mix the classic style of the late 70s disco look with the avantgarde look of New Wave, which was just breaking into the scene.

Versace SS 08

Last year while skimming thru several magazines there was one advertising campaign from SS 2008 that immediately grabbed my attention: Versace Jeans Couture. Not only because of the models (the 2 girls were mainly featured in the campaign), but because it was styled and depicted very late 70s inspired clothes. Below is shown the only menswear piece featured in this campaign, and which I must say it is awesome. I'm a big fan as you could already notice of white suits and this one isn't the exception. The shirt is orginal since it's white with a touch of black stripes near the collar and buttons area. Definetly an outfit that brings to the late 00s the elegance and style of the late 70s, ideal for going clubbing.
