Paisley

Paisley...for some a piece of art...for others a flashback to the male fashions of the late 60s and early 70s...for others trashy and loud...and for some an Etro trademark. For me a quintessential example of late 60s and early 70s fashion that if worn properly can be a success.

Due to being busy lately I haven't been able to update as much as I would like to, but I'd like to tell my readers thanks for stopping by and commenting, and that I have not forgotten about this blog, so keep on visiting.

Below an example of a paisley shirt by Paul Smith.

Shampoo

Warren Beatty's character in the 1975 flick "Shampoo" was a hairstylist caught in a love triangle with two women, Julie Christie and Goldi Hawn. His outfit is a brilliant mix of this and that, very 70s influenced and still very wearable nowadays.

Good times

Bianca Jagger celebrating her birthday in the legendary Studio 54 with her husband back then, Mick Jagger, and famed russian dancer Mihail Baryshnikov. A perfect example of late 70s menswear: open collar shirts and a leisure jacket.

No Me Pentiro

This time, it's not only about fashion but also about music. Below is the cover of Mo'Plen Bacharach: The Burt Bacharach Italian Songbook; and the first thing that greets the eye is the very late 60s photograph. The two men dressed in hippie/paisley inspired shirts and white trousers, and the girls wearing an Asian inspired minidress & a paisley blouse.

Now who is Burt Bacharach??? The quintessential American 60s songwriter and composer who along with those who performed his songs made up the soundtrack for many people around 1962-1968. His music can be classified as easy listening, pop, jazz, and relaxing. This CD has italian versions of his all time hits and I recommend it very much if you're eager to get into a 60s mood. Jenny Luna's rendition of "Walk On By" (No Me Pentiro) was used on one of the latest Gucci shows.

Greek Party

Back from my vacations....Iceberg launched an advertising campaign several years ago in which Fernanda Tavares was featured as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, recreating scenes from her years as Jackie O (1967-1975). Here she is show attending a summer party at the island of Skorpios, Greece with her husband, Aristotle Onassis; and his two children: Christina and Alexandros.
