Scarface

Michelle Pfeiffer & Al Pacino definetly gave a lesson of style and elegance through their portrayal of Elvira Hancock and Tony Montana in the 1983 blockbuster hit "Scarface". Their clothes throughout all of the movie reflect the style of the early 80s, clothes that can still be worn today and look "2009".

Ties/Cravattes from the 60s

Cravattes or ties experienced also the revolution in fashion during the late 60s and 70s. From the skinny and classic styles of the 50s and early 60s, they evolved into bright colored, bold, and wide pieces. Whether worn with the traditional knot or tied in a loose way, cravattes were an essential item in every man's wardrobe.

Below a photo that shows some ties/cravattes from the late 60s. Dark colors, bright, or with designs such as paisley are just a brief example of the variety there was in these pieces.

Alain Delon's fall jacket

For those windy and cool Fall days nothing better than a wool/cashmere sweater or jacket like the one worn below by Alain Delon in the late 60s. He is also wearing a simple white shirt and some oval shaped sunglasses. Even though Fall/Winter fashions consist mainly of dark colors, I recommend you add a touch of color, or opt for light colors.

Betty & Francois Catroux

Fall has already begun in some parts of the world, and with it wardrobes and outfits will experience a transition also. So goodbye for now to the light fabrics and welcome back to the turtlenecks, double breasted jackets, velvet suits etc.

In February 1968, French model and Yves Saint Laurent muse, Betty Catroux (Betty Saint) married French decorator, Francois Catroux. The wedding took place in Cap Ferrat. It can be considered as an "original wedding" since the bride skipped the traditional white dress and opted for a black and white Pierre Cardin fur coat paired with patent leather boots. The groom also broke the tradition by wearing a chocolate velvet suit with a white turtleneck.

Definetly a late 60s Mod wedding.

Burt Bacharach

One of the greatest songwriters/composers/performers of all time is Burt Bacharach. He is responsible for a huge number of hit songs, performed by him or artisits such as Dionne Warwicke, Tom Jones, Herb Alpert, Dusty Springfield, The Carpenters, Jackie De Shannon, just to mention some; during the 60s and early 70s.

Below an image of him attending a party in the late 60s with his wife back then, actress and beauty icon, Angie Dickinson (Police Woman).

Patrick Swayze

Two days ago, on Sept. 14, 2009, Patrick Swayze passed away after struggling for more than a year with panchreatic cancer. He was an accomplished actor and performer, mostly remembered for his striking portrayls in films such as "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost".

To pay tribute to his life and legacy I've decided to post a photo that depicts one of the most memorable scenes from "Dirty Dancing". Swayze played the part of a resort's dance instructor who falls in love with a debutant, Jennifer Grey. The ending's dance sequence is considered by some as one of the most memorable scenes in movie history. Patrick Swayze's character just proves once more than you can never go wrong with the all black look.
